【Exhibition】MY FAVORITE PRODUCT DESIGN

Statement

I’m not sure where the line between creative animation and product animation exists in my life. I find inspiration in the forest, in the mountains, by the ocean, and in Japanese product design. My passion began with PAPIER LABO.’s products. The moment I saw them, I instantly fell in love. That was the true beginning of my journey as a stop-motion animator focused on product design. Step by step, I’ve continued exploring the world of Japanese design, from student graduation exhibitions I visit every year to some of the country’s most iconic stationery and lifestyle brands, many of whom I’ve been fortunate to collaborate with. This is my first exhibition in a series about product design animation at FabCafe Kyoto.

It features commercial, non-commercial, and fan made animation projects based on the products I use and love every day, pieces that share a similar atmosphere and spirit. Each animation was made by me. I handled the concept, art direction, prop-making, animation, and post-production. The only exception is SAUNA BU for KOKUYO, which was created in collaboration with YOHAK DESIGN STUDIO. I hope this small collection of projects shares a little of my huge love for Japanese product design with you.

創造的なアニメーションとプロダクトアニメーション、その境界線が私の中では曖昧です。インスピレーションは森、山、海、そして日本のプロダクトデザインから得ています。すべてはPAPIER LABO.の製品との出会いから始まりました。その瞬間、私は一目で恋に落ち、ストップモーションアニメーションによってプロダクトデザインを描く旅が始まりました。毎年訪れる各地の美術大学の卒業制作展から、日本の代表的な文具やライフスタイルブランドのリサーチまで、私は毎年探求を続けています。これまでに数々のブランドとコラボレーションの機会にも恵まれました。この展覧会は、FabCafe Kyotoで開催される「プロダクトデザイン・アニメーション」シリーズの第一弾です。

展示するのは、私が日常的に使用し、愛しているプロダクトを題材とした、商業作品・非商業作品・ファンメイド作品です。共通するのは、作品が持つ雰囲気と精神です。
すべてのアニメーションは私が制作しました。KOKUYOのために制作したYOHAK DESIGN STUDIOとのコラボレーションワーク「SAUNA BU」を除き、コンセプト、アートディレクション、小道具制作、アニメーション、ポストプロダクションまでを一貫して手がけました。

この小さなコレクションを通して、日本のプロダクトデザインに対する私の大きな愛を少しでも感じていただけたら嬉しいです。
